Local apples were procured in requested volume via local co-op donation from Willy Street Co-op North. Apple crunch in-school event planning and organization occurred in conjunction with local organizations (FoodWIse, University of Wisconsin Madison/Dane County Extension, Mendota Elementary Community School), leading to a successful school-wide apple "crunch" at 8am on the day of the event. A newsletter was designed and shared throughout the school and school community providing nutrition education about apples with a healthful recipe. Coordination of a field trip to one of Rooted's farm sites successfully occurred— Students learned how to harvest apples from apple trees, made added sugar-free applesauce, and experienced local agriculture. Emily oversaw and coordinated this project in conjunction with all stakeholders.
